Our Math Curriculum:
St. Timothy's Lower School uses Bridges Math Curriculum for our daily math instruction. This program focuses on not only mathematical knowledge and application of the foundational skills, but encourages students in the development of their mathematical reasoning, thinking and verbal explanation of concepts taught. Through a variety of resources and activities, students will dive into each unit and learn through calendar activities, games, number talks (math discussions), projects, hands on work, and small group sessions.
This program engages students on a variety of levels and supports the needs of each individual learner with differentiation, online resources and more. The resources available to you, as a parent, are also extensive and I encourage you to take a look at them. You can find the Bridges Welcome Letter with a brief introduction to 4th grade math in the tabs underneath math resources.

Units of Study
In their 4th grade year, it is imperative that students have a firm grasp on their multiplication facts- the building blocks for a lot of what we do this year. Students are strongly encouraged to be practicing these on a weekly basis to support their work in the classroom. It is here, in the tabs above that you will find each parent letter for our current and upcoming units.
Enrichment:
In class, students have the opportunity to extend, challenge and develop their skills in conjunction with what is being taught in the classroom. Through centered learning, students encounter these opportunities in games, small groups and occasionally on homework. Based on their skills coming into each unit, assessed via a pretest, the teacher is able to make decisions on how to extend and enrich each lesson for what students specifically need.
